What Is Homeopathy? Homeopathy is a natural system of wellness that has been used worldwide for more than 200 years. Developed by German physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, this system is based on the principle of similia similibus curentur ("like cures like"). The idea that a substance capable of producing certain symptoms in a healthy person, when homeopathically prepared, can be used according to traditional homeopathic practice to address similar symptoms. Most homeopathic remedies are prepared from naturally occurring substances derived from plants, minerals, and animal sources, although some are also made from synthetic substances. These ingredients are prepared through a specialized process of dilution and succussion (vigorous shaking), known as potentization. Many people choose homeopathy due to its holistic approach that considers the whole person rather than focusing solely on individual symptoms. Homeopathics have no known food, drug, or herbal interactions and no known side effects. They may be used by people and pets of all ages and sizes and are commonly used for both occasional and ongoing health concerns. What Makes NEWTON homeopathics Different? What makes NEWTON homeopathics different is our unique clinical homeopathy approach, developed by founder Dr. Luc Chaltin. Inspired by leading homeopaths from Belgium, France, and Germany, Dr. Chaltin sought to simplify the often-complex process of selecting individual homeopathic remedies. Drawing on years of research, clinical experience, and his own wellness journey, he created carefully formulated homeopathic complexes designed to address groups of commonly associated symptoms. Over the decades, he continually refined these formulations through practical application, and by helping countless individuals explore homeopathy as part of their wellness routines. A defining feature of the NEWTON Clinical Homeopathy Approach is its emphasis on elimination and drainage as important components of maintaining overall balance. For this reason, every NEWTON homeopathics complex includes carefully selected homeopathic ingredients traditionally associated with the body's elimination processes according to traditional homeopathic practice. Not only is this philosophy evident in our Detoxifier, Kids Detoxifier, Pets Detoxifier, and PRO Drainer formulas, but detoxification remedies are also included in each NEWTON homeopathics complex formulation. Our practically named complexes help simplify homeopathic remedy selection. What Do 6X, 10X, 30C, and Other Potencies Mean? There are two processes involved in making a homeopathic – dilution and succussion (a type of shaking). The number identifies the sets of dilution and succussion which is performed with the remedy. The letter indicates the dilution factor for each succussion step. The Roman numeral “x” stands for 10 and indicates a 1:10 ratio of raw material to diluent; the Roman numeral “c” stands for 100 and indicates a dilution of 1:100. For example, a 10x final potency starts with one part of the raw material, such as a plant tincture, adds 9 parts of diluent (usually a mixture of water and alcohol) and is succussed 10-100 times. The resulting mixture has a potency of 1x. One part of this 1x mixture is then added to 9 parts of diluent and succussed again resulting in a 2x mixture. One part of this 2x mixture is then added to 9 parts of diluent and succussed again resulting in a 3x mixture. This process advances until the mixture is diluted and succussed a total of ten times. In the final 10x mixture, there is one part of the original raw material in 10,000,000,000 parts of diluent. As the process continues, 15x remedies are one part raw material to 1,000,000,000,000,000 parts of diluent. A “c” potency is made similarly but diluted at a ratio of 1:100 instead of 1:10. Therefore, a 30c final dilution ratio is one part raw material to 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 parts of diluent. It is this ultra-dilution that makes homeopathy potentially controversial but at the same time amazing if the concept is understood. Because of its high dilution ratios, homeopathy has no known food, drug, or herbal interactions, and has no known side effects. Some say homeopathy can’t work because it is so diluted. However, homeopathic advocates believe it is the combination of dilution and succussion that activates the power of the remedy. Is Homeopathy Safe? Homeopathic remedies are generally considered safe. Due to their highly diluted nature, homeopathics have no known food, drug, or herbal interactions and no known side effects. Homeopathic remedies are used by people and pets of all ages and sizes, including infants, children, adults, seniors, pregnant women, and nursing mothers. However, individuals with specific health concerns should consult their healthcare provider before using any health product. In the United States, homeopathic remedies are recognized as drugs under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act). Official monographs (single remedies) listed in the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS) are recognized as drugs under FD&C Sections 201(g)(1) and 201(j). Homeopathic drug products are subject to FDA regulations 21CFR Parts 210 and 211and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). NEWTON homeopathics are manufactured in an FDA-registered, GMP-compliant facility, and our raw materials and finished products are tested according to HPUS standards and guidelines. What Are the General Dosing Guidelines for NEWTON homeopathics? The standard dose for NEWTON homeopathics is 6 drops or pellets for adults and 3 drops or pellets for children, unless otherwise directed. For best results, place the dose directly on or under the tongue in a clean mouth. Consistency is important. Take your remedy as directed and avoid skipping doses whenever possible. If you miss a dose, simply resume your normal schedule. If additional dosing is needed, increase the frequency rather than the amount taken. For example, you may take the standard dose more often during periods of increased discomfort and reduce the frequency as symptoms improve. If you are not experiencing the desired results with three doses per day, consider increasing to four doses per day while maintaining the recommended dose amount. For individuals who are especially sensitive, we recommend that they begin with a one drop or one pellet dose, then gradually increase to the standard dosage amount over several days. If you prefer an alcohol-free option, many NEWTON homeopathics are also available in pellet form. Liquid remedies may be placed in a small amount of very warm water for a few minutes, to allow most of the alcohol to evaporate before use. Homeopathy is generally forgiving when it comes to dosing. If you forget to take a remedy 15 minutes before a meal, simply take it 15 minutes afterward. Likewise, taking a few extra drops occasionally is not typically a concern. We advocate taking a couple of doses after acute symptoms such as a headache are resolved but continuing the remedy for a couple of weeks after chronic symptoms such as those associated with constipation are resolved. For product dosing instructions, refer to the product label. Minutes With Marge - How to Take Homeopathic Complexes
How Do I Use a NEWTON homeopathics Euro-Dropper Bottle? Using our Euro-dropper delivery system is simple. Remove the cap and tilt the bottle to approximately a 135° angle (like pouring a beverage). This allows air to enter the bottle so the drops can flow freely. If needed, gently tap the bottle to help release the drops. Our Euro-dropper design offers several advantages, including easy dispensing, reduced risk of contamination, and compact storage. Unlike traditional droppers, the recessed Euro-dropper insert prevents the contents from spilling if the bottle is tipped over. Our color-coded caps make it easy to identify our different product lines. For customers who prefer a different delivery method, compatible glass bulb droppers, plastic bulb droppers, and spray tops are sold separately. Minutes With Marge - Euro Dropper
Can Homeopathic Remedies Be Taken with Prescription Medications, Other Homeopathics, and Supplements? Homeopathic remedies have no known food, drug, or herbal interactions, as well as no known contraindications to indicate homeopathic remedies should not be administered if you are taking other medications or supplements. We recommend avoiding food, beverages, medications, supplements, and other homeopathics for 15 minutes before or after taking a homeopathic. If you have questions about combining health products or managing medical conditions, consult your healthcare provider. Minutes With Marge - Taking Multiple NEWTON homeopathics Complexes
How Are Homeopathic Remedies Sold? Homeopathic remedies are commonly available as single remedies or complex remedies. A single remedy contains one homeopathic active ingredient, while a complex remedy contains a combination of two or more homeopathic active ingredients. The most common delivery methods are liquids and pellets. Many NEWTON homeopathics are available in both liquids and pellets. Our liquid remedies are prepared with purified water and preserved with gluten-free, non-GMO organic cane alcohol. Our pellets are made from gluten-free, non-GMO, organic beet-derived sucrose (lactose-free) pellets. We package our homeopathics in amber glass bottles to help protect them from light exposure. Glass is an inert material that does not react with homeopathic preparations, making it an ideal choice for preserving product quality. Whether you choose liquids or pellets, both provide a convenient way to administer homeopathics. Minutes With Marge - How Are Homeopathic Remedies Sold?
Can Homeopathy Be Taken for Extended Periods? Homeopathics are highly diluted preparations that are not known to accumulate or build up in the body. For chronic conditions, a homeopathic remedy may be taken for as long as it continues to be needed. Many people use homeopathy daily. If you have questions about long-term use or a persistent health concern, consult your healthcare provider. Minutes With Marge - How Long Should I Take Homeopathy?
How Long Does It Take for Homeopathy to Work? The response time varies from person to person, and can be influenced by diet, lifestyle, and medical history. Some people notice changes relatively quickly, while others may require more time and consistent use. In general, short-term concerns such as an itchy bug bite may respond quickly whereas long-standing or more complex concerns such as symptoms associated with menopause may take weeks or even months. Liquid or Pellets: What's the Difference? This is a matter of personal preference. The difference is the mode of delivery. Some prefer pellets because of the taste or because they prefer an alcohol-free remedy. Others prefer liquid due to its ease of use. Pellets should not be touched with fingers or hands. The warmth and moisture of the skin may remove active ingredients from the pellets. Pour pellets into the bottle cap and then pour directly into the mouth. Why Don't NEWTON homeopathics Have Expiration Dates? According to the FDA Code of Federal Regulations 21 CFR § 211.137(e) homeopathic drug products are exempt from expiration dating requirements. NEWTON homeopathics liquid remedies are preserved according to the standards and guidelines of the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS) and are packaged in amber glass bottles to help protect them from light exposure. Accordingly, NEWTON homeopathics have no fixed shelf life when properly stored. For best results, keep products tightly closed and store them in a cool, dry place away from excessive heat and direct sunlight.
Can Homeopathic Remedies Be Taken with Food, Drinks, Coffee, or Peppermint? Traditionally, some homeopathic practitioners have recommended avoiding strong flavors and aromatics like peppermint, menthol, and camphor, as well as stimulants such as coffee, while taking homeopathic remedies. We suggest following a simple 15-minute rule. Avoid food, beverages, oral hygiene products, medications, supplements, and other homeopathics for 15 minutes before dosing or waiting for 15 minutes after dosing before consuming any of the above. Homeopathic remedies may also be mixed with a small amount of purified water if preferred. Minutes With Marge - Using Mint With Homeopathy
Is Homeopathy Affected by Extreme Temperatures? According to the Homœopathic Pharmacopœia of the United States (HPUS), due to the documented heat sensitivity of homeopathic preparations, remedies should not be exposed to temperatures greater than 121ºC (249.8ºF). Refrigerating or freezing homeopathic remedies is not recommended. The best storage method is to keep containers tightly sealed, out of direct sunlight, and away from extreme heat and electronics. Minutes With Marge - How Should Homeopathy be Stored?
Why Are Homeopathic Ingredients Listed in Latin? Homeopathic active ingredients are listed in Latin to ensure accurate and consistent identification worldwide. Latin names precisely identify the specific plant, mineral, or animal source used in a remedy, helping to avoid confusion that can occur when a substance has multiple common names. Using standardized Latin nomenclature also aligns with the conventions of the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS) and other homeopathic references worldwide, ensuring that practitioners, manufacturers, and consumers are referring to the same ingredient. Are NEWTON homeopathics Gluten-Free and Suitable for Individuals with Sensitivities? NEWTON homeopathics liquids are made with purified water and organic, non-GMO, gluten-free cane alcohol. Our pellets are made from organic, non-GMO, beet-derived sucrose and are both gluten-free and lactose-free. NEWTON homeopathics are prepared using high-quality organic or wild-grown herbs and other carefully selected homeopathic source materials. Many individuals with dietary sensitivities choose NEWTON products because they are free from gluten and, in the case of pellets, lactose. If you have specific allergies, sensitivities, or dietary concerns, review the product label and active ingredients before use. Minutes With Marge - Are NEWTON homeopathics Gluten & Lactose Free?
Is the Alcohol in NEWTON homeopathics Liquids Safe for Children and Pets? NEWTON homeopathics follows the preservation standards and guidelines established by the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS). The amount of alcohol in a typical dose is extremely small. For example, a child or small pet dose of 3 drops contains approximately 0.001 ounces of alcohol. For those who wish to minimize alcohol exposure, the dose may be placed in a small amount of very warm water for a few minutes to allow most of the alcohol to evaporate before dosing. NEWTON homeopathics pellets are offered as an alcohol-free alternative. For birds, rabbits, and other small or sensitive animals, we recommend using this warm-water method for dosing. Not all NEWTON homeopathics are available in alcohol-free pellet form. The Pets line is only available in liquid form. If a desired Pets, Kids, or Main (Adult) complex is not available in pellet form, check for a similar complex in another NEWTON line. All NEWTON homeopathics (for both humans and animals) are formulated with the same commitment to quality and can be used interchangeably. For example, since the Pets Bowel~Digestive Care complex is not available in pellet form, the Main (Adult) Bowel~Digestive Care pellet complex can be substituted. The homeopathic remedy is applied to the outside of the pellets. The pellets may be partially dissolved in water, the pellets discarded, and the water administered. Do Larger Individuals Need More Than the Standard NEWTON homeopathics Adult Dose? Homeopathy is not dispensed according to weight or size in humans. A NEWTON homeopathics standard adult dose is 6 drops or pellets. A standard child’s dose is 3 drops or pellets. Other manufacturers’ standard dosages are often more than double the NEWTON dosage. Animal dosage is based on weight since there is so much variance in size between breeds and species. For instance, a small bird may weigh mere ounces, while a large horse may exceed a ton. Does Size Matter When Dosing NEWTON homeopathics?
What If My Pet Is Uncooperative or Chews on the Dropper? Dosing pets can sometimes be challenging. If your pet is resistant to being dosed from a dropper, add the recommended dose to your pet’s drinking water. For pets that are sensitive to the smell of alcohol or for birds, rabbits, and other small animals that are sensitive to alcohol, place the recommended dose in a tablespoon of very warm water and let the water sit for a few minutes. This will allow most of the alcohol to evaporate before adding the homeopathy to your pet's water. For added convenience, compatible plastic droppers and spray tops are available to purchase separately. To follow traditional homeopathic dosing guidelines, avoid using metal bowls or spoons when preparing or administering homeopathics.
