Homeopathy, a complete system of healing with its own method of diagnosing and its own special remedies, was discovered by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann over 200 years ago. Homeopathics have no harmful side effects, may be safely used by everyone, including pets, and can be administered for both acute and chronic conditions. Homeopathics are made from minute amounts of plant, animal and mineral substances prepared by the process of dynamization. Dynamization is a process whereby a minute amount of substance is diluted, to as much as one part per ten billion and beyond, and succussed (vigorously shaken). Scientists have theorized that homeopathy may function similar to the way enzymes or hormones function in the body. Although they are found in similar miniscule amounts, they have very powerful effects. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), homeopathy is the second largest medical system for primary health care in the world. It is prevalent and widely accepted in many parts of the world including Europe, where over 100 million people use it on a regular basis. In America, during the early 1900s, the most prestigious medical schools in this country were homeopathic. These medical schools converted to allopathic medicine as fast-acting synthetic drugs were developed. Few knew then of the dangerous side effects inherent in synthetic pharmaceutical drugs. Today, because of mounting evidence regarding the dangers of drug toxicity and its effects on health, the safety and efficacy of homeopathy is resulting in its wider use and acceptance. There are approximately 6,000 homeopathic practitioners in Germany and 5,000 in France. In Britain, homeopathic hospitals and outpatient clinics are part of the national health system and homeopathy is recognized as a postgraduate specialty by virtue of an act of Parliament. The American Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists has estimated the sales of homeopathic drugs in the United States in 2003 between $300 million and $450 million, with a compound average growth rate of approximately 8% per year. People are also returning to homeopathy because they understand that in order to achieve health, one must discover the root cause of disease and not just treat the symptoms. Many Americans now understand that pharmaceutical drugs often interfere with the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Suppressing, or merely removing symptoms, is a temporary solution at best. Addressing the “whole” person naturally is the long-term solution to modern states of disease. Homeopathy does this safely and effectively. NEWTON complexes are the result of a long evolution in the use of homeopathic remedies in Europe, especially in Belgium, France and Germany. Starting in the mid-1800s, through the beginning of the 20th century, the French homeopaths developed the technique of draining toxins from the body by using a series of drainer remedies. Dr. Luc took this idea and combined it with the concept of complex remedies. The use of just such a complex saved his life. His experience, as a practicing homeopath for more than 40 years, resulted in the development of the wide range of NEWTON complexes. Yes. The active substances in homeopathic remedies occur in highly-dilute amounts. There are sequences of dilution and then succussion (vigorous shaking) which are believed to activate the healing properties of these ingredients. The diluted substances are considered non-toxic with no known side effects, making them safe for everyone (infants, children, pregnant women, nursing mothers, adults, seniors and pets). Homeopathy is regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and has been recognized since 1938 in the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. NEWTON homeopathics are tested by an independent FDA-registered laboratory according to standards set by the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States. No. There are no known side effects associated with homeopathic remedies. Yes. It is safe to take homeopathy while taking other drugs, herbs or supplements. There are no known drug-to-drug interactions or contraindications. Homeopathy will not interfere or interact with pharmaceutical drugs or natural remedies. NEWTON suggests waiting 15 minutes before or after consumption of food, drink, medications or supplements before administering any homeopathic remedy. An empty stomach is not necessary; homeopathy is absorbed directly through the mucous membranes of the mouth. This 15-minute window simply gives the homeopathy time to reach its maximum effectiveness without interference. Homeopathic remedies come in various forms and modes of delivery. A single remedy consists of one homeopathic remedy; a complex or combination remedy is a mixture of two or more single remedies. The most common modes of delivery are liquid and pellet. Pellets are small sugar balls that have been saturated with the liquid remedy. Liquid remedies are diluted in water and are required to contain a preservative. NEWTON liquid remedies contain purified water and certified gluten-free, non-GMO, organic cane alcohol as its preservative. NEWTON pellets are 100% gluten-free, non-GMO, beet–derived sucrose. NEWTON does not package in plastic (excluding large-size veterinarian products) knowing that glass is inert and as such will not interact with the homeopathy. Yes. Homeopathy does not accumulate or “build up” in the body. It is virtually impossible to “overdose” on homeopathic remedies. For chronic conditions that require daily administration, the same remedy can be taken for as long as the condition remains. There is no need to discontinue a homeopathic regimen unless the condition has changed and a new homeopathic remedy is needed. This depends on each individual situation. A person with a simple, yet acute condition such as an itchy bug bite may get immediate relief with the correct homeopathic remedy. However, a person with a long-standing complex condition such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome may not see the therapeutic benefits of homeopathy for several weeks or even months. Many factors must be taken into consideration including diet, lifestyle and medical history. This is a matter of personal preference. There is no difference in effectiveness. Some prefer pellets because of the sugary taste or require an alcohol-free remedy. Others prefer liquids due to its ease of use. NEWTON liquid remedies contain certified gluten-free, non-GMO, organic cane alcohol. NEWTON pellets are 100% gluten-free, non-GMO, beet–derived sucrose. Pellets should not be touched with fingers or hands. The warmth and moisture of the skin may absorb and remove some of the active ingredients from the pellet. Pour pellets into the bottle cap and then pour directly into the mouth. Historically, it has been recommended that one should refrain from consuming foods that contain strong aromatics or stimulants such as coffee and peppermint. NEWTON has found that the “15-Minute Rule” is a sufficient window between taking homeopathy and consuming food or drink. Simply take your remedies 15 minutes before or after eating, drinking or brushing your teeth. Homeopathy may also be mixed with a small amount of clean, preferably filtered, water. According to HPUS (Homoeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States), due to documented heat sensitivity of homeopathic preparations, remedies should not be exposed to temperatures greater than 121ºC (249.8ºF). Refrigerating or freezing homeopathic remedies is not recommended. The best method for storage is to keep containers tightly sealed and out of extreme heat or direct sunlight. Homeopathic ingredients are written in Latin because homeopaths require precision and accuracy in identifying and describing the source of the plant, mineral or animal species of a particular remedy. Often there is more than one common name associated with a substance so the Latin name is used to assure correct identification.
Yes. NEWTON liquid remedies contain certified gluten-free, non-GMO, organic cane alcohol. NEWTON pellets are 100% gluten-free, non-GMO, beet–derived sucrose. NEWTON remedies are made from high-quality organic or wild-grown herbs and medicinal substances. Yes. NEWTON follows the guidelines set by HPUS (Homoeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States) for preserving homeopathic preparations. For those concerned with the alcohol content, taking a child or small pet dose of 3 drops once a day delivers 0.001 ounces of alcohol. THIS IS EXTREMELY LOW. One six-ounce glass of wine delivers 660 times the amount of alcohol as a 3-drop dose of NEWTON complex. If there are still concerns, the dose may be placed in a small amount (approx. 1 tbsp.) of warm water, and the alcohol will evaporate within 10 minutes. NEWTON pellets do not contain alcohol and are offered as an alcohol-free alternative. Although pellets are not available in the Pets line, related complexes in the Adult or Kids line may be used. No. Homeopathy is not dispensed according to weight or size in humans. A NEWTON standard adult dose is 6 drops or pellets. A standard child’s dose is 3 drops or pellets. Other manufacturers’ standard dosages are often more than double the NEWTON dosage. Animal dosage is based on weight due to the fact that there is so much variance in size between breeds and species. For instance, a small bird may weigh mere ounces, while a large horse may exceed a ton. Since dosing animals can be challenging, the appropriate dosage amount can be added to its drinking water. If the animal exhibits a sensitivity to the smell of alcohol, add the appropriate dosage amount to a small amount of warm water to allow the alcohol to evaporate prior to adding to its drinking water. NEWTON also provides plastic droppers or plastic spray tops for a minimal charge by request. Metal water bowls or spoons may interfere with the effectiveness of the homeopathic remedy. Historically homeopathy has been used as a preventative even though no clinical trials have substantiated its use as a prophylactic. The National Center for Homeopathy offers the following information on their website: “Homeopathic treatment is ideal to optimize the body's natural defenses against microbes. With the appropriate homeopathic treatment, people recover from infectious diseases, even the most serious ones, gently and rapidly. During past great epidemics such as diphtheria, scarlet fever, typhoid, cholera, yellow fever, malaria, etc., homeopathy decreased mortality by 10 to 30 times versus conventional medicine. During the infamous Spanish flu epidemic of 1918-19, it has been estimated that 25 to 50 million people died worldwide. In the United States alone, 550,000 died, approximately 10% of the people afflicted with the flu. Homeopathic physicians documented that more than 62,000 patients treated with homeopathy resulted in a mortality of 0.7%. For people who were sick enough to be hospitalized, conventional medicine had a mortality of 30% while with 27,000 documented hospitalized cases, homeopathy was reporting a mortality of 1.05%.” (Journal of the American Institute of Homeopathy 1921; 13:1028-43) |
